Dear School Community Member:

There has been a lot in the news recently about MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus). MRSA is a bacterial strain of a staph infection that is resistant to Methicillin (an antibiotic) and most commonly found in crowded settings where contaminated items are shared (prisons, military, athletic locker areas...). Painful red bumps or boils are the most common signs of the infection.
